Republic Act No. 9225: An Act Making the Citizenship of Filipino Citizens who acquire Foreign Citizenship Permanent. Amending for the Purpose Commonwelath Act. No. 63, as amended and for other purposes

This act shall be known as the "Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act of 2003." It is hereby declared the policy of the State that all Philippine citizens of another country shall be deemed not to have lost their Philippine citizenship under the conditions of this Act.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Personal appearance of the applicant;
  2. Two (2) copies of the original duly accomplished Petition for Retention / Re-acquisition of Philippine Citizenship Form which can be downloaded using this link: https://abudhabipe.dfa.gov.ph/images/Consular/New_Forms/Retention_Reacquisition_Philippine_Citizenship.pdf ; entries must be TYPEWRITTEN;
  3. Five (5) recent Passport size photo in white background taken within six (6) months;
  4. If available: original and one (1) photocopy of any documents issued by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration, such as Alien Certificate of Registration;
  5. Original and one (1) photocopy of Birth Certificate or Report of Birth issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) duly authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Manila;
  6. Original and one (1) photocopy of Marriage Certificate or Report of Marriage issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) duly authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Manila;
  7. Original and two (2) photocopies of latest Philippine passport;
  8. Original Certified True Copy by the Foreign Embassy within the UAE of latest foreign passport and one (1) photocopy;
  9. Original Naturalization Certificate of Foreign Citizenship (official English translation is required) –Certified True Copy by the Foreign Embassy within the UAE and one (1) photocopy; and
  10. Fees: AED 400

  • Processing period is fifteen (15) working days upon compliance of complete requirements.

IMPORTANT

The Philippine Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) conducts a pre-assessment of visa applications. Applicants are advised to submit through e-mail <abudhabipe.visa@dfa.gov.ph> digital copies of their:

  1. UAE residence visa; and
  2. Proof of financial capacity (personal bank statements / accounts with minimum average balance of AED 5, 000.00 in the last six (6) months from the date of the statement.

Once pre-assessment is completed, applicants will be e-mailed the link to the Visa Application System to lodge their application for a Philippine tourist visa.

Applicants will be informed of the result/s visa application/s through their provided e-mail. Please be advised that processing takes at least three weeks for single-entry visas, and one month for multiple-entry visas. Follow-ups/ requests for status during this processing period will NOT be entertained, and could result in further delays in the issuance of visas, if approved. The Embassy reserves the exclusive right to approve or reject applications based on its own assessment.

Applicants are therefore advised to apply for the appropriate Philippine visa/s at least one month prior to their intended departure date, or to book their flights only after visa issuance.

      1. Accomplished Visa Application Form (link will be provided to applicants after pre-assessment) – TYPEWRITTEN in capital letters;
      2. Personal appearance of the applicant, if applying for the first time;
      3. Passport valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines and photocopies of passport data page(s);
      4. Photocopy of UAE residence visa with legally translated version English, if visa is printed in Arabic;
      5. Letter of Guarantee from employer or company sponsor stating / certifying the following:
        • Applicant’s position and/or designation of the
        • Inclusive period of applicant’s employment with the sponsor;
        • Monthly salary; and,
        • No objection for applicant’s travel to the Philippines
          If applicant is a business proprietor or partner:
        • Original and copy of the Trade License with the name of the applicant as proprietor, partner or investor (translated in English)
      6. Invitation/ Reference letter from the Filipino sponsor(s)/ contact person(s) or company, and a copy of the said individual’s passport or any valid government-issued ID indicating his/ her/ their complete address and telephone number(s) in the Philippines; or Hotel booking in the Philippines;
      7. Personal bank statements / accounts as proof of applicant’s financial capacity to travel (minimum average balance of AED 5,000.00 in the last six (6) months from the date of the statement;
      8. Consular fee of AED 260.00; applicants must pay at the Embassy’s cashier by cash only.

Additional requirements:

  • If applicant has a previous visit visa to the Philippines: photocopy/(ies) of the latest Philippine visa issued;
  • If applicant is married to a Filipino citizen: photocopy of the attested marriage contract in English together with a copy of spouse’s passport or ID;
  • If applicant is travelling for recruitment purposes: original and photocopy/(ies) of the Job Order or Demand Letter and SPA verified/ attested by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in the UAE and the Philippine Embassy;
  • If applicant is travelling for medical treatment: medical certificate attested by the UAE Ministry of Health and letter of acceptance from a Physician or Medical Institution in the Philippines;
  • If applicant is a minor, not employed:
    1. Notarized affidavit/ letter from parents or legal guardian guaranteeing the applicant/s have their full financial support for international travel, as supported by documents certifying their financial capacity, i.e., employment/ salary certificate, bank statement and trade license;
    2. Copy of the applicant’s birth certificate in English; and
    3. Passport/ ID copies of parents or guardian.

Other requirements may be requested depending on the result of the evaluation of the application (accomplished visa application form and other basic requirements). Incomplete requirements will not be processed.
