The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi was formally opened on 17 June 1980. It was then headed by Consul Alberto A. Encomienda in his capacity as Charge d’ Affaires, a.i.

Before the establishment of the Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan had jurisdiction over the Philippine interests in the United Arab Emirates.

In June 1995, the Embassy’s Chancery relocated to a twin villa at Najda Street which also accommodated the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO). By September 2002, the Embassy once again transferred to Tenth corner Eleventh Streets, Madinat Zayed area.

In September 2005, the Embassy relocated its Chancery to Villa No. 2, Street 5, E-18/02 Plot No. 97 behind Al Falah Plaza, also at the Madinat Zayed area.
