REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES IN APPLYING FOR MARRIAGE
Due to the high number of applicants applying for marriage at the Embassy, the Embassy encourages applicants to get married outside the Embassy and have their marriage reported at the Embassy afterwards (please see Requirements for Report of Marriage and Delayed Registration of Marriage). Marriages in Abu Dhabi may be contracted at the following:

For those who are willing to wait to contract marriages at the Philippine Embassy, please take note that only marriages between Filipinos are solemnized at the Philippine Embassy. The Philippine Embassy has jurisdiction over the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain while the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai has jurisdiction over Dubai and all the northern Emirates.
NOTE: Those intending to file a Pre-Nuptial or Antenuptial Agreement/Contract [Marriage Settlement] must do so prior the solemnization of the marriage and have it registered at the Embassy.
Requirements:
- DFA Authenticated PSA issued Birth Certificate (1 original and 3 photocopies);
- Transcription copy of birth certificate from the local civil registry in the Philippines, IF the PSA issued birth certificate is not clear or readable (1 original and 3 photocopies);
- DFA Authenticated PSA issued CENOMAR (1 original and 3 photocopies) with the same information in the birth certificate;
- 3 passport copies of the contracting parties (data page);
- 3 photocopies of the contracting parties’ Abu Dhabi or Al Ain visa page;
- For ages 18-21, during the filing of application, DFA Authenticated Affidavit of Parental Consent with Certificate of Authority for Notarial Act (1 original and 3 photocopies);
- For ages 22-25 during the filing of application, DFA Authenticated Affidavit of Parental Advice with Certificate of Authority for Notarial Act (1 original and 3 photocopies);
- DFA Authenticated PSA issued Death Certificate of parents, for deceased parents of contracting parties with ages 18 – 25 years old (1 original and 3 photocopies);
- 1 passport-size pictures of the contracting parties; and
- Marriage Counseling Certificate – (1 original and 3 photocopies) while processing for requirements, you can now request for marriage counseling from a church (St. Joseph’s Church / St. Mary’s Church) or from your pastor. Include your Certificate of Marriage Counseling in the requirement for your marriage application).
In addition, contracting parties are required to submit also the following documents:
a) For Annulled:
- DFA Authenticated Court’s Decision and Certificate of Finality of Annulment with Certificate of Authority for Notarial Act (1 original and 3 photocopies);
- DFA Authenticated PSA issued Marriage Advisory (1 original and 3 photocopies);
- DFA Authenticated PSA issued Marriage Contract with annotation that the marriage is already annulled and void (1 original and 3 photocopies)
b) For Widow / Widower:
- DFA Authenticated PSA issued records of previous marriages– Marriage Advisory (1 original and 3 photocopies); and
- DFA Authenticated PSA issued Death Certificate of the deceased spouse (original and 3 photocopies)
- 100 DHS for the Marriage License
A marriage banns or announcement of the marriage will be posted at the premises of the Philippine Embassy for ten (10) calendar days, after which, the parties may get their Marriage License. - 240 DHS for the solemnization of marriage
Step 4: Come back to the Embassy to claim the Marriage License on the scheduled date. At the Embassy, get your queuing number from the Information Counter of the Consular Section. Wait for your number to be called then proceed to the Civil Registry counter. The contracting parties may now set the date of the wedding based on the availability.
Step 5: Proceed to the cashier to pay 240 DHS for the solemnization of marriage, and then return the receipt to the Civil Registry Counter.
Step 6: Come back on the wedding date, 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
IMPORTANT:
*The wedding date can only be set upon the completion of the Marriage Banns.
*The contracting parties must appear personally at the Embassy to submit the abovementioned documents and apply for a Marriage License.
*The contracting parties will be provided with copy of the signed marriage contract after the solemnization of marriage.
