
A joint mangrove tree planting activity at the Jubail Mangrove Park in Abu Dhabi.
29 January 2025 — The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, together with members of the Filipino community and students from the Philippines Schools held on 28 January 2025 a joint mangrove tree planting activity at the Jubail Mangrove Park in Abu Dhabi as part of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the UAE.
The activity was led by the Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso A. Ver and joined by Mr. Ahmed Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Terrestrial and Marine Biodiversity Sector at the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), Engr. Abdulla Saeed Al Shamsi, Corporate Director of Jubail Mangrove Park, officials, teachers and students from the FIPA Schools and officers of the Bayanihan Council Abu Dhabi.
Addressing the participants of the tree planting event, Ambassador Ver emphasized that the Philippines and the UAE are equally committed to natural conservation and protection, and sustainable development.
“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between our two countries, the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi is honored to make this humble contribution in protecting the environment for the sake of the future generations as a symbol of our enduring bond and friendship,” Ambassador Ver said. “Just as the mangrove trees we plant today will take root, grow stronger, and withstand the test of time, so too will our bilateral relations as I am confident that our partnership will continue to flourish, deepening our cooperation and friendship for another 50 years and beyond,” he adds.
Jubail Mangrove Park is a nature reserve and eco-tourism destination in Abu Dhabi. Located on Jubail Island, the park is dedicated to the conservation of mangrove forests and marine biodiversity and offers visitors a chance to explore the natural beauty of Abu Dhabi’s coastal ecosystem while promoting environmental awareness.
