Attaché Jobert Esguerra then led the singing of “Bayan Ko” in honor of Bonifacio.
During the second part of the program, Social Welfare Attaché Isabel Sy Nillas delivered a lecture on the rights of persons with disabilities and on the Philippine government’s programs to advance these rights.
She outlined self-enhancement services, as well as community-based and center-based services that can be provided to differently-abled persons. She also emphasized the importance of equalization of opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Social Welfare Attaché Nillas further talked on volunteerism and reminded personnel of sincerity in giving service and in providing quality service to fellowmen. She concluded her lecture by sharing a poem by Coralie Severs. “Therefore, treat me as a common individual who is also a partner in nation building. Treat me with equality. Hence, extend me an equal opportunity,” she read. END
