BACK-TO-BACK COMMUNITY OUTREACH BRINGS EMBASSY AND MIGRANT WORKERS OFFICE SERVICES IN GHAYATHI, ABU DHABI WESTERN REGION
28 July 2024, Ghayathi, Western Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE – Following the successful conduct of a similar initiative held last 20 July 2024 in Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi Western Region, the Philippine Embassy and Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Abu Dhabi joined forces once again for another historic first in bringing the full range of consular and welfare services to the Filipino Community in Ghayathi. The Embassy and MWO served a total of 194 services including consular (passport, notarial, civil registration), welfare, contract verification, Overseas Voting registration, among other frontline services.
“The Embassy and Migrant Workers Office-Abu Dhabi continue to build on the successes of previous outreach activities held in remote, unserved areas of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Likewise, we reach out to the Filipino community residing here in Ghayathi to bring consular and welfare services closer to our kababayan. Through this activity, the Embassy holds on its commitment to continuously improve how we promote and deliver our services, in the interest of and welfare of our community,” said Philippine Ambassador to the UAE H.E. Alfonso A. Ver.
The Filipino community members expressed their appreciation for conducting the outreach in Ghayathi located more than 253 kilometers away from the Embassy in the capital city of Abu Dhabi. In addition to providing services, the event also served to map the living and working conditions of Filipinos living in the area, and gathered relevant on-the-ground information directly from the community.
Filipinos based in the nearby Al Dhannah City (more than 44 kilometers/ approximately 40-minute travel) in the Western Region also availed services provided in the activity. In November 2023, the Embassy held its first outreach activity in over a decade in the Western Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in Al Dhannah City, which later served as springboard for the one held in Gayathi.
The Joint Community Outreach in Ghayathi is the second of its kind for 2024, and one of the initiatives of the Embassy during its year-long celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Philippines - United Arab Emirates diplomatic relations this August 2024. END
